PROMINENT LANCASTER MAN DEAD
Mr. James M. Heath Passes Away at a Sanitarium in New York City – Body to Camden.
Special to The State.
Lancaster, Aug. 18. – James M Heath, president and manager of the Heath Banking and Mercantile company and one of our most prominent and influential citizens, died in a sanitarium in New York city this morning at 5 o’clock.
The sad news was wired here this morning and has cast a pall of gloom over the community, which will extend to the limits of the State when the news is known, for Jim Heath was loved by all who knew him, whether socially or in a business way. He was warm hearted, charitable, public spirited and generous to a fault. The poor and need in the town and county will sorely miss him.
He left here only a few days ago for New York to be treated for a gall stone. He was not operated upon.
He leaves a widow, a daughter of the lamented Col. W. M Shannon, as five small children.
The body will reach here tomorrow morning and will be taken to Camden for interment Thursday morning.
