A Prominent and Successful Planter of Kershaw County Died After Long Illness

Camden, February 26 – Mr. James Cantey died at his home in the Boykin neighborhood, south of Camden, last night, after a long and painful illness.
On the 1st of next September the deceased would have been 56 years old. Since his boyhood days Mr. Cantey has been engaged in planting. He owned a large track of fine farming land a fe miles below this city, and was recognized as one of the most successful planter in the county. The deceased was a son of the late Maj. John Cantey. He married Miss Charlotte Ancrum, who, with a large connection survives him.
