DEATH OF MR. NETTLES.

An Excellent Man’s Patient Suffering Ended by Death.

Special to The State.

Camden, March 27. – Mr. John T. Nettles, Sr., died at his home here this morning in the 64th year of his age. For many months he has been a patient sufferer from chronic rheumatism. Having gradually changed him from a strong, healthy man to a frail bent body. His death was entirely expected and all his family were with him when the end came.

He was born in this county and spent all of his days within its bounds. For many years he conducted a successful mercantile business in Camden and no figure was more familiar on the streets than was his. He retired from business several years ago because of his infirmity and has since patiently awaited the end. His business was not conducted on a large scale but no merchant ever conducted business on a higher plane. He was held in high esteem by is business associated and was beloved by old and young. His remains will be interred in the Quaker burying ground tomorrow at 3 o’clock and the services will be conducted from the Baptist church, of which he was a faithful member. His wife, who was Miss Laura Holmes, and two daughter, Mrs. John Lindsay and Mrs. Houston of Columbia, and one son, Mr. John T. Nettles, Jr., of Camden, survive him.
