Eight Medical Graduates from Local College

PHARMACY GRADUATES

Very Large Number Will Have Diplomas Tomorrow Night When Commencement Exercises of College Will Be Held at the Academy of Music. Dr. W. B. W. Howe Takes First Honor.

Eight young men will receive their diplomas in medicine and twenty-nine in pharmacy at the seventy-sixth annual commencement exercises of the South Carolina Medical College at the Academy of Music tomorrow night.

“The class in medicine is much smaller than usual, but this exception will not long prevail as the under classes show the usual excess of medical students.

The following is the list of graduates in medicine, in order of merit: W. R. W Howe, Charleston: St J. R. de Ceradeuc, Charleston: W. D. Grigsby, Blaney: W. F. Youmans, Luray: L. M. Stokes, Walterboro; O. F. Eckel, Edinburgh, Ill: J. O. Lea, Hodge; R. E. Yellet, Eutawville.

Dr. Howe being the first honor graduate, wins the college cup.

Mr. James R. Sparkman, an undergraduate, was declared the winner of the Frank Lander medal for his article, “Disease of Children.”

The following are the honor graduates in pharmacy, in order of merit: Messrs Williams, Wilhite, Hair, Graham, O’Bryan, Clark.

The association medal for work in practical pharmacy was, awarded to Mr. Graham.

Under the usual rules, the first four candidates in medicine will have the refusal of positions as internes at the Roper Hospital.

Presentation of medal for the best mort on practical pharmacy, offered by the South Carolina Pharmaceutical Association, W. H. Ziegler, Ph. D., Charleston.
Presentation of Frank Lander, M. D., medal – Disease of Children – Prof. Lane Mulally.

Valedictory address, medical class, L. M. Stokes, M. D – “06.

MUSIC
Annual address to the graduating classes of 1906. Hon. Joseph A. McCullough, Greenville, S. C.
Benediction
The exercises will begin promptly at 8 o’clock and the audience is asked to be seated at this hour.
At the conclusion of the exercises, the annual reunion of the Alumni Association of the College will take place at the New Pavillon Hotel on King street.
