The Capital City Laundry has inaugurated an interurban, collection and delivery service that, with three routes, puts the modern laundry at the doors of the rural housewife, though, in fact, the home may be distant from the laundry in Columbia as far as 40 miles. The laundry, as the city system will be called for at convenient intervals, and delivered free to patrons, thus eliminating such extra charges as were always included in deliveries where the shipments were made by the rail method.

“I have been planning such a service for some time,” said John A. Young, manager of the Capital City Laundry, Saturday, “and I confidently feel that the step will be received with approval and pronounced progressive.

“The service puts the laundry facilities at the door of the country home and the hotels in the larger towns on our routes. For receiving and delivering flat work the innovations will prove a boon, for our records shows that despite the additional cost of carriage much of the flat work has been sent to the steam laundries for the reason that the washerwomen are unable to finish the bulky work the right way.”

The laundry wagon, motor-driven, is in charge of Charles Dunlap. The first trip of the week, on Mondays, is to Brookland, Lexington, Leesville, Batesburg, and deliveries will be made at these and intermediate points on Thursday.

The Camden run will be on Tuesday, taking in all homes en route, and Blaney, Lugoff and Jacobs. The deliveries will be made on Fridays.

A sort trip will be made on Wednesday to Brookland and Cayce, to which deliveries will be made on Saturday.

Interurban Delivery Service

We have installed an Interurban Auto Delivery Service and the people in the nearby towns of Columbia can have all their laundry work called for and delivered in the same week.

This will enable the people in the nearby towns to get the same high class laundry service as the people of Columbia.
