Ann Lucetta Alexander was born on 22 Mar 1835 in Camden, Kershaw, South Carolina, USA a child of Isaac Brownfiel Alexander and Elizabeth Gilman.
Camden, August 20, 1915 – Although it was not unexpected the community was saddened Thursday morning, August 19, 1915, to learn of the death of Mrs. Ann Alexander Hershman, at her late home on Union Street at 7:30 o’clock Wednesday evening, August 18, 1915.
Mrs. Hersham was in her 81st year and was a descendant of one of Camden’s oldest families. In early girlhood she married John T. Hershman who was for many years editor of the Camden Journal. After the War Between the Sections they moved to New York where they reared a family of one son and two daughters. The son died several years ago and Mrs. Hershman, then a widow, came with her daughters back to her native town. A woman of the old South, charming in manner and person, a lovely Christian character, was beloved by all who knew her.
She leaves two daughters, Misses Leila Hershman and May Hershman, one granddaughter, Mrs. Kemp of Pittsburgh, Pa., and one brother, Dr. I. H. Alexander of this city, and a number of other relatives. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon, August 19, 1915, at the home at 5 o’clock.
