Business Men Will Use Automobiles for Trip – Wear Cap and Duster.
Clear and colder weather has been promised by the weather man for the Columbia business men’s trip to Camden this afternoon. One week ago today plans to advance on that historic town had to be abandoned because of inclement weather. At the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon the opinion was that the boosters would go today, even through the forecaster should fail to “make good” on weather predictions.
Announcements was also made from Camden yesterday that a special train of boosters from Charlotte also would make a stop at Camden this afternoon. The schedule of the North Carolina calls for arrival in Camden at 1:30 o’clock. Only five minutes will be consumed in Camden by the special train. During that brief stay the band which will be brought from the Queen City will give a concert at the station.
Effort is being made by the Chamber of Commerce officials to have all the machines assembled by 2:45 o’clock, that the cars may be properly parked and the start promptly made one half hour later. Boosters are also being urged to appear in the customary Boosting paraphernalia, consisting of cap and duster.
In Addition to the stay in Camden, brief stops will be made at both Jacobs and Blaney. An abundance of music is to be provided this afternoon by the Columbia mills band, the Manhattan male quartette and the Shriners’ drum corps.
