Greetings From Denmark.
Citizens of Denmark sent the following telegram to Gov. Manning:
“One hundred and fifty citizens of Denmark send heartiest congratulation over the reelection of the man who has made law respected, proved to South Carolina that prohibition can prohibit. We congratulate South Carolina that her citizenship has given this expression of indorsement to your administration. We also congratulate your county, which gave you a vote practically ten to four. We consider this the greatest victory in the history of your State, not excepting that of 1876, and some of us were in that campaign. Your people are happy beyond expression, making joyful demonstration at every announcement of the vote, putting you ahead. We hope this means an end to Bleaseism in our beloved State. We wish to express our high appreciation of the earnest and honest words of South Carolina’s sincere senator, B. R. Tillman, which came as a timely help in this hour of need. We acknowledge our Heavenly Father in all this.”
“Accept my heartiest congratulations on the victory for South Carolina,” was the telegram received by Gov. Manning from William Knox Tate, former State supervisor of rural schools in South Carolina, now connected with the George Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tenn.
