Business, Recently Reorganized, Moves Manufacturing and Distributing Center Here.
The Peplax Medicine Company has moved its business to Columbia from Salisbury, N. C., and will hereafter manufacture here and distribute its products from this city. The enterprise is a going business and has recently been re-organized with A. W. Taylor of Columbia as president and general manager. H. E. Vaughn, M. D., of Blaney, vice president and M. Drum, formerly of Salisbury, secretary and treasurer.
The manufacturing laboratory, shipping rooms and office will be established in the McCreery Building on South Main street near the Union station. As soon as changes in the building which are now in progress have been completed the company will begin operations.
Mr. Taylor, the resident of the company is secretary and treasurer of the Taylor Drug company of this city and has for a number of years successfully managed the business of that company. Dr. Vaughn is a practicing physician at Blaney and is well known in Columbia.
M. Drum has been actively connected with the Peplax Medicine Company since its beginning in Salisbury and has moved to Columbia to continue the duties of secretary and treasurer.
The establishment of this company here emphasizes Columbia’s advantages as a distributing center. At present five salesmen are selling Peplax in South Carolina and North Carolina. The company plans to expand its distribution into other states and increase the number of salesmen. Every bottle of the preparation sent out will carry the name of Columbia and will be a still greater advertisement for this city.
