Man In Kershaw Slain By Son
Cause of Fatal Shooting Not Definitely Known.

Camden, Sept. 3. – J. E. Sharp, white, aged about 55 years, was shot and fatally wounded last night about 10 o’clock, and died at the Camden hospital about midday today.
The fatal shooting occurred at the dead man’s home about four miles east of Camden and the shots were fired by Robert Sharp, aged 32, a son of the slain man. J. E. Sharp was a guard on the chain gang and Robert Sharp is a carpenter, working in Camden. Both resided in the same home and it is not known what caused the difficulty. The elder Sharp had a wife and several children. The son has a wife and four children. It is said the sons claims the father was ill-treating of his mother, while it is said that the wounded man made the statement that he did not know why his son shot him. The Sharps formerly resided near Blaney in this country. Robert Sharp has been placed in jail. The weapon used was a shotgun, two shots being fired at close range, the load tearing away a portion of the man’s lungs.
