Mellichamp – White

Williston, Aug. 13, – At 8:30 o’clock Monday morning Miss Gertrude Jones Mellichamp became the bride of John Henry White of Columbia.

The ceremony was performed by Dr. W. M. JOnes of Barnwell, former pastor of the bride. Only members of the immediate family were present at the marriage, which took place at the residence of the bride’s parents on Church street.

The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Mellichamp and in one of Williston’s most attractive and popular young women. She graduated from the Confederate Home college and has taught school for several years, teaching last year at Blaney, near Columbia.

The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank White of Columbia and holds a responsible position with the Columbia Reo company. He is a young man of fine character and has many friends.

Immediately after the ceremony the young couple left for Columbia, where they boarded the Carolina Special for Montreat, Waynesville, Hendersonville and other mountain resorts. On their return they will be at home in Columbia.
