New Brookland, Sept. 1. – The Friendship Circle of Kings Daughters held a very interesting meeting last Tuesday with Mrs. C. R. Costner as hostess. In the absence of the president, Mrs. S. O. Derrick presided over the meeting. Mesdames J. R. Hilton, J. E. Brown and Gant were welcomed as new members. After business was suspended the hostess served delightful cream and cake.
Mrs. H. L. Meetze entertained a few friends on Thursday afternoon with a swimming party at Taylor’s Pond in honor of her sister, Mrs. Wallace Oxner, who is a recent bride of Leesville.
Miss Leelan Caughman has returned from a ten day stay at Lake Junaluska. Miss Caughman represented the Epworth league of Brookland Methodist church.
Mrs. V. T. Caughman has returned from a visit to Decatur, Miss.
Mrs. Noah Shealy left yesterday for her home in Newark, N. J., after visiting her mother, Mrs. E. T. Weed.
Mrs. W. H. Hendrix has gone to Johnson to visit her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Rawl.
Mrs. Lizzie Finnegan has returned from an extended visit to Spartanburg and other points. She was accompanied home by her sister, Mrs. Alice Williams of Spartanburg.
Miss Beatrice Galloway has returned from a visit to relatives in Winston-Salem, N. C.
Mrs. Q. M. Geyer and Children and Mrs. R. L. Shuler and children have returned from a visit to Charleston.
Mrs. Amanda Harmon of Gilbert, spent last week-end with her niece, Mrs. B. B. Swygert.
Miss Charlotte Ross of Blaney, was the guest of Mrs. Willerby Ross during the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Glaze and children also Mrs. Annie Thornhill, motored to Belmont, N. C., for the week-end and Labor day.
Mrs. C. C. Roberts had as her guest during the past week her sisters, Mesdames R. M. Brown of College Place and A. L. Dunaway of Jacksonville, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Roberts and sons are spending the week-end and Labor day with Mrs. Roberts’ brother, A. J. Owen, at Bessemer City, N. C.
Mrs. J. W. Flake and two daughters, Helen Flake and Daisy Flake, of Charlotte, are visiting Mrs. Flake’s brother, R. C. Stallings.
Miss Amalie Hall has returned from a visit to Marion. Miss Hall was entertained with several parties while in Marion.
