Bluebird Circle Met.
The Bluebird circle of King’s Daughters held a well attended meeting at the residence of Mrs. B. C. Church on Fourth avenue, Arden. Plans were made for the coming state convention of King’s Daughters and MRs. Church was elected delegate besides Miss McGill, president of the circle. Mrs. Kenneth Baldwin will go as delegate from the city union. A former member, Miss Beresdorff, was a guest of the evening, having come back from Florida on her way to Virginia. After the business session, the hostess served light refreshments.
From Fort Mill.
Miss Wilhelmina Evans, who is teaching at Fort Mill, was the guest during the teachers’ convention of the Misses Cleveland in Eau Claire.
Spartanburg Delegates.
Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Snyder on College Drive had as their guests for the teachers’ convention Dr. and Mrs. H. N. Snyder from Wofford college, Miss Lula Nelson Snyder and Miss Sophie Wallace, teacher of the city schools of Spartanburg.
From Gaffney.
Miss Ruth Love of Gaffney, who is teaching the city schools there, was the guest of Miss Cecilia Ariail in Eau Claire for the last few days.
Surprise Party.
Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Cain were entertained at a surprise party Friday evening at their home in Arden in honor of their sister, Miss Eda Faye Kelly. unknown to Miss Kelly, who had been invited for a motor ride, the young guest assembled to greet her upon her return and to give her a birthday surprise.
The rooms were abloom with early spring flowers and numerous games were played during the evening. In a contest the prize was won by Miss Josephine Nicholson and Ted Young. Each guest was given a number and the lucky one was drawn by Miss Kelly, who was directed to a corner of the dining room, where an attractively decorated basket was found full of dainty gifts. In the room the table was centered with a snowy birthday cake with pink tapers, and from the corners of the room were drawn pink streamers to the table. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Bill York in serving an ice course. Music was furnished throughout the evening by Miss Eda Faye Kelly on the piano with solos by Miss Ruby Kelly on the cornet.
The guest included: Misses Ganelle Percival, Edith Brooks, Sadie Spivey, Josephine Nicholson, Ocey Fudge, Allie Rose and Lena Rose of Blaney, Ruby Kelly and Miss Eda Faye Kelly, John Brooks and Charlie Brooks, Robert Gilmore of Lykesland, Llewellyn Percival, J. Percival and DuPre Percival, “Mid” Robert, Ted Young, Oscar Blackstone, Norman Rose of Blaney, P. W. Morgan, Sr., Derieux Kelly of Smallwood, Minnie Gilmore of Lykesland, D. Kelly, P. W. Morgan and B. York.
Return Home.
Mrs. J. M. McGill and two children, Quentin McGill and Memory Rose McGill, have returned home after spending a few days with Mrs. McKill’s sister, Mrs. B. D. Cain, in Arden.
For Convention.
Miss Estelle Creighton is at her home on the Asylum road, having come down for the teachers’ convention.
From Darlington.
Cain M. Leach of Darlington spent last week-end with Mrs. B. D. Cain.
Engagement Announced.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wesley Frost of Eau Claire announce the engagement of their daughter, Cerna Adger Frost, to Oliver Haskell Smart of Columbia, the wedding to take place the last of April.
