Blaney, March 9. – The local school Improvements association will hold its March meeting next Thursday evening, March 14, in the school auditorium at 8 o’clock. The feature of this meeting will be the annual spelling contest.
Last Monday the sixth and seventh grades put on their style show in the auditorium. Each girl made a doll outfit under the auspices of the Home Makers’ club and displayed the complete outfit in prettily arranged displays on the stage. Miss Alma Burgess and Mrs. Zemp of Camden were judges and blue ribbons were awarded Charlotte Hawkins and Alma Gardner. Red ribbons were awarded Valdora Perry and Wilma Huckabee. Yellow ribbons were awarded Katie Stanley and Wilma Huckabee.
The cooking clubs held an interesting meeting Thursday and a cake contest was arranged for April.
Mrs. Lillian Grigsby entertained the members of the 11th grade and the bookkeeping class at her home last Monday morning with a radio party to listen in on the inaugural ceremonies in Washington.
Mrs. Charlotte Ross Goff has returned to her home in Florence after spending a week with her parents here.
Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Ross and children and Mrs. Willis Ross and son, Richard, of New Brookland spent the past weekend here with relatives.
Brown Ross of Charlotte, N. C., spent last weekend here with J. S. Ross.
Miss Eleanor Grace Kelly of Columbia was the guest Sunday of Miss Louise Rose.
Miss Mattie Hodge of Columbia was the guest Sunday of Miss Mozelle Thornton and Miss Roxie Nelson of Columbia was the guest of J. D. Nelson.
Mrs. J. C. Kelly and E. D. Outlaw of Columbia were the guest Sunday of their sister, Mrs. Iola Campbell.
Mrs. H. B. Dunn of Cheraw has returned to her home after visiting her sister, MRs. W. E. Brown.
Miss Lila Ross of Camden Spent the weekend here with her grandfather, Water Ross.
Mr. Marion Wyman of Columbia was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Arlen C. Rose had as her guest this week Mr. and Mrs. Richard Babb and Mrs. C. M. Babb, Sr., and daughter Mary of Laurens and Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Babb, Jr., of Newberry.
