BLANEY, S. C., March 16. – The Lexington County B. Y. P. U., will present a comedy, “Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick,” in the high school auditorium in Blaney on next Wednesday night, March 20, under the auspices of the senior class here.

The School Improvement association met in the school building last Thursday evening. The president, J. D. Watson, presided and after a short business session, turned the meeting over to the program committee who had arranged the annual spelling contest to select the representatives for the county-wide contest to be held in Camden in April. Allen Edens won first place in high school, with Arthur Miles second. Murris McCombs won first place in grammar school, with Annie Belle Price second.

Miss Willie May Andrea gave a six o’clock dinner her home Tuesday evening, complimentary to the teachers in the Pine Grove school. Covers were laid for Misses Nettie Roberts, Louise Rabon, Katie Funderburke, Connie Andrea, and Mrs. C. S. Andrea.

Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Grigsby and children, of Columbia, spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Kelly.

J. L. Nelson, of Columbia, was the guest Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Morgan (Sarah Alice Nelson Morgan).

J. D. Watson made a trip to Raleigh, N. C., last week.

Miss. Dezma Monroe returned to Summerland college after spending the week-end with her parents here.

All the local teachers attended the Kershaw County Teachers’ association meeting in Camden Saturday, The Blaney school furnished the music for this meeting.

Miss Lelye Rose has returned from a visit to Columbia with relatives.

Jesse T. Ross and sons, Willis and J. T. went to Greenville Sunday to visit his daughter Beatrice, a student at Greenville Women’s college.

Mrs. J. D. Watson and Mrs. L. P. Rose spent Wednesday in Camden with Mrs. A. C. Cox.

Miss Eulalie Sheely spent the week-end in Lexington with her sister Mrs. R. E. Cook, and Miss Susie Shannon spent the week-end in Parr with her mother.

Mrs. C. S. Andrea and Misses Connie and Willie May Andrea spent last week-end in Florence with Mrs. Fava E. Cribb.
