Items of Personal Interest Gathered in Columbia’s Prosperous industrial Section.

Mr. and Mrs. John Deese and Family are the guests of Mrs. Deese’s mother in Chesterfield, S. C., for a week.

Mrs. R. L. Hart is ill at her home on Mulberry street.

The Silver Cross circle of King’s daughter held their August meeting Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. C. D. Boling, hostess. At the close of the business session Mrs. Boling resigned as president of the circle. Mrs. C. R. Riddle was elected president and Mrs. J. O. Corn vice president. Much social service work has been done under the leadership of Mrs. Boiling and it was with sincere regret that her resignation was accepted. At the close of the meeting the hostess served ice cream and cake. Miss Essie Anderson was in charge of the devotional program. Twenty-seven members were present.

Miss Myrtle Wiggins has returned from North Carolina and the Piedmont section of the state where she spent two weeks.

Mrs. Rhett Sanders, of Winnsboro, S. C., is spending some time with her mother, Mrs. R. L. Hart.

Ernest Lovett spent the past week-end with friends in St. Matthews.

Misses Nettie Gary and Lena Gary are spending the week with friends at Bluffton, S. C., Savannah and Tybee, Ga.

Mrs. F. A. Townsend and young daughter, Betty Haile, are the guests of Mrs. Townsend’s sister. Mrs. B. D. Hughes.

Mrs. J. T. Ryals returned Thursday from North Carolina, where she was the guest of her father for a week.

Miss Maurice Simpson returned Saturday from Spartanburg where she has been visiting friends for a week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hammond and son were the guest this week of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Hamond en route to their home in Great Falls, S. C., from Myrtle Beach and Darlington.

Mrs. Sara Hammick is ill at her home on Olympia avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Snelling and Tracy Snelling have returned from Graniteville, where they were called on account of the death of Mrs. Snelling’s brother, Mr. Cogburn.

Claud Duncan of Greenville is spending the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Muller Kreps.

Mrs. W. R. Connelly entertained sixty children Saturday afternoon with a lovely party in honor of the seventh birthday of her young daughter, Julia Anne. A color scheme of pink and white was carried out in all the details. Pink and white part caps, candy baskets and pink and white packages from a “grab bag” were given the youthful guests. Ice cream and individual cakes were served. Mrs. Connelly was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. R. R. Hammond and Mrs. J. B. Fennell.

Rev. Andrew Hartley is conducting a series of revival services in Johnston, S. C.

Misses Eula Mae Paschal and Margaret Paschal and their young brother, “Snooks” are spending some weeks with relatives in Blaney, S. C.

George Partridge and Raymond Goodman will assist James Jennings Sunday morning in the service he has been conducting for some time at the Richland county jail.

Miss Essie Anderson has as her guests, Miss Essie Smith of Newberry, Miss Olive Anderson of Timmonsville and Miss Mary Flowers of Darlington.

Rev. R. J. Corbett of Southside Baptist church is conducting services at Batesburg, S. C.

Sunday morning at 11:15 o’clock at St. Luke’s Lutheran church. Mr. Gary Paschal will deliver and address to the congregation in the absence of the pastor, Rev. J. L. Cromer. The public is cordially invited.

Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Walters have as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Lavin Glenn of Whitemire, S. C.

Mrs. C. V. Maroney is spending three weeks in Shelby and Gastonia, N. C.

Mrs. Joel Kaminer of Lexington is the guest of her father, Mr. P. W. Bowyer.

Mrs. A. M. Dixon and daughter Mary Elizabeth and Anne Augusta left Saturday for Hendersonville, N. C., where they will spend a week.

Mrs. S. P. Wilkerson, Miss Vernelle Wilkerson, and Pierce Wilkerson have returned from a two weeks’ trip to Darlington and Charlotte, N. C.

Mis Geneva Howell leaves Sunday for Marietta to spend several days with her sister, Mrs. Jameson Bramon.

Miss Arette Grant left Saturday for Hartsville to spend some time with her mother.

Mr. Irving Southworth of the Boston office of Pacific mills was a business visitor to Hampton division, Pacific mills this week.

Alva Fennell of Lyman, S. C., spent the past week-end with his parents, Mr. and MRs. J. B. Fennell.

Mrs. D. W. Neely has returned to her home in Pelzer after a visit to her mother, Mrs. E. C. Browder, who has been ill for four weeks.

Mrs. L. C. Knox, Miss May Knox, Edward and Tad Knox and Mrs. Graham are spending a week in North Carolina.

Mrs. E. C. Browder had as her guest last week Mrs. C. W. Horton, of Charleston, S. C.

Dr. and Mrs. “Jack” Boling, and three children, left Saturday for their home in Bradenton, Fla., after visiting the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Boling.

Miss Shellie Browder is visiting relatives at Charleston and Folly Beach.

Miss Barbara Swinnie is ill at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Swinnie.
