PART-TIME SCHOOL CLOSES SESSIONS

Seivern, Aug. 25. – The special part-time school for boys that had been conducted during the month of August at Edisto academy at Seviern came to a successful close Saturday.

The school, which was conducted under the supervision of the state department of vocation education, with Phil B. Waters of Blaney as superintendent, enrolled boys from Chesterfield to Aiken counties along the Sandhills ridge. Enthusiasm was showed by the boys in all the courses, and the following project work for the coming farm year was accepted by the boys to put in practice next year, under supervision of their local vocation agricultural teachers: cotton, 95 acres; corn, 33 acres; oats, two acres; peanuts, eight acres; potatoes, two acres; 220 hens; three dairy cows; ten brood sows.

The final exercises were held Saturday morning in the assembly hall, at which time certificates for three-year attendance and good work were given to Raymond berry of Saluda county and C. W. Jones of Aiken county. The gold medal for most meritorius work during the session was awarded to Rushton Matheny of Johnson, with second and third honors going to Leo Corley of Steedmen and J. O. Hawkins of Saluda, repectively.

Mr. Waters was assisted in the school work by Mrs. P. B. Waters of Blaney, G. W. Sawyer of Monetta, N. C., Alexander of Steedman, Leonardo Andrea of Trenton, E. W. Sanders of Summerville and F. M. Dwight of Wagner, Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Cannada of the Edisto academy faculty did much to make the boys enjoy their stay here.
