According to the United States census reported on April 26, 1910, Oscar J Summer (36), owned a home in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina, with his wife of 15 years, Mattie I Summer (32), and their children, Blanche Summer (14), Salem Summer (10), Stanley Summer (8), Brooks Summer (7), Harry Summer (3), Hazel Summer (3) and Fannie Summer (11 months) and his father, John W. Summer (66). All family members reported having been born in South Carolina. Oscar J Summer was a foreman on the Railroad, Mattie I Summer was a farmer on a general farm and Salem Summer was a laborer on home farm. Mattie I Summer reported being the mother of 7 children, all of whom were still living.

According to the United States census reported on April 26, 1930, Robert N Mcgrady (47), rented a home in Olympia, Richland County, South Carolina, with his wife, Eugenia Mcgrady (42), his sons; Robert E Mcgrady (17) and Jerome H Mcgrady (11); Son-in-law, Johnie Freeman (26), daughter; Etta Freeman (20), grandson, Charles F Freeman (1), son; Matthew M Mcgrady (25), daughter-in-law, Hazel Mcgrady (22), grandson, Harry M Mcgrady (4), Mattie E Mcgrady (2), grandson, James M Mcgrady (1) and father-in-law, William H Elmore (78). All family members reported having been born in South Carolina. Robert N Mcgrady was a loom fixer at a cotton mill, Eugenia Mcgrady was a spinner at a cotton mill, Robert E Mcgrady was a sweeper at cotton mill, Johnie Freeman was a weaver at a cotton mill, Matthew M Mcgrady was a daffer at a cotton mill.

Funeral Services at 4 O’clock This Afternoon From Mt. Pleasant Church.
Mrs. Hazel McGrady, 23, 1315 Berkley avenue, died at 2:30 Saturday Morning, January 17, 1931 at the Columbia hospital.
She is survived by her husband, M. M. McGrady; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Summer, and three children, Harry McGrady, James McGrady and Mattie McGrady; six brothers, Salem Summer, Chapman Summer, Fulmer Summer, Oscar S. Summer, Harry Summer and Lacy Summer, all of Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Rabon of Blaney, Mrs. Manuel Livers of New York City and Mrs. John H. Farah of Columbia.
Mrs. McGrady was a woman of many fine and lovable traits of character. She will be greatly missed in her home and by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held from Mt. Pleasant church, 14 miles from Columbia on the old Winnsboro road, at 4 o’clock this afternoon, January 18, 1931 with the Rev. H. A. McCullough, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, in charge. Interment will be in the churchyard.
Serving as pallbearers will be: L. E. Warr, W. M. Castine, T. W. Crossland, W. H. Floyd, D. J. Powers and W. T. Hill.
The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 2:30 for the church.
