Bethune, Jan 17. – A group of high school girls and boys was entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Clyburn last Friday evening. The occasion was the 17th birthday anniversary of J. M. Clyburn, Jr. After several hours happily spent, the guests were invited into the dining room, where refreshments were served.
The Eastern Star held its January meeting Tuesday evening of last week. The following officers have been chosen to serve during 1931: Worthy matron, Miss Stella Bethune; worthy patron, J. L. T. Railey; assistant matron, Mrs. Birdie Pate; assistant patron, L. C. Watford; secretary, Miss Ruby Norris; treasurer, G. E. Parrott. Other officers are; Mrs. Ethel Oliver, Mrs. Iona Clyburn, Mrs. Della Outlaw, Mrs. Fannie McLaurin, Mrs. Angie Foster, Miss Geneva Pitts, Mrs. Pansy Fowler, Mrs. Minnie McLeod, Mrs. Mrs. Annie Mays, Mrs. Lizzie Watford, Mrs. Gertrude Padgett and Mrs. Sallie Robertson.
Mrs. Bowen of Blaney has been spending some time with her sister, Mrs. C. H. McEacheson.
Miss Olga Brannon, a pupil nurse at the Baptist hospital, Columbia, is spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Brannon.
Mrs. Molly Newman of Clyde was the recent guest of Mrs. Ruth McQuage.
Norwood Thomas and Tom Burley from Winnsboro were here last weekend.
Miss Fay Bethune of Big Springs and Monroe Crossley of Hartsville have been the guest of Mrs. A. K. McLaurin.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brannon of Winnsboro are spending some time with relatives.
James King of Carolina spent the weekend at home. He had as his guest during the weekend Thomas Cauthen of McBee.
Miss Frances Saverance of the Schrocks’ Mill school is spending the week at home. Miss Eunice Saverance is teaching in her stead.
