DILLARD RITES ARE HELD TODAY
Funeral services for John James Dillard, 72, of Lugoff, who drop dead on the 1300 block of Sumter St., Monday, were conducted today from the Thompson Funeral Home by the Reverend James Jennings, pastor of the Riverside Baptist church. Interment was in the Kirkland cemetery, near Blaney.
Mr. Dillard had made his home in Lugoff for the past six years. Formerly he had lived in Birmingham, Ala., where he had been connected with the Southern Railway as a conductor. He was a member of the Masonic lodge No. 476 in Birmingham.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Susie A. Dunn Dillard, Lugoff; six daughters, Mrs. C. R. Ray, Mrs. Floyd Montgomery, Mrs. Harry Gaston, Mrs. Lewis Cox, and Miss Jessie Bernice Dillard, all of Birmingham, and Mrs. B. R. Chambers, Montgomery, Ala; two sons, J. E. Dillard and Marvin Dillard, Lugoff; one sister, Mrs. Palmer Wadell, Greer.

Funeral services for John James Dillard, 72, of Lugoff, who died suddenly on the 1300 block of Sumter street Monday morning, will be conducted at 11 o’clock this morning from the Thompson Funeral Home by the Reverend James Jennings, pastor of the Riverside Baptist church. Interment was in the Kirkland cemetery, near Blaney.
Mr. Dillard, a retired Souther railway conductor, moved to Lugoff from Birmingham, Ala., six years ago. He was a member of the Masonic lodge No. 476 in Birmingham. He leaves many friends to mourn his passing.
