Mrs. Ewell C. Black and Mrs. Roy Kale left Saturday for New York, where they will spend a week.

John Marshall and Curtis McKay, both of Washington, D. C., visited Mrs. C. H. Duke at her home on Preston street en route to Gainesville, Ga., where they will attend school.

Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bankhead and young son, J. M. Bankhead, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Walker Lee and young son, Richard Lee, spent last weekend at the Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach and Charleston.

Miss Ernestine Roof of New Brookland is spending some time with Miss Mamie Albert at Blythewood.

Miss Helen Carr spent last week in Sumter with her cousin, Miss Alice Westbury.

Miss Frances M. Hails of the department of history and archives, state library of Alabama, has returned to her home in Montgomery, after a pleasant visit to Mr. and Mrs. Fred D. Marshall at their home, 2420 Terraceway.

Mr. and Mrs D. A. Pruitt and family of North Carolina and Dr. A. F. Bumgardner and Dr. and Mrs. L. F. Bumgardner of Charlotte spent Wednesday and Thursday with Dr. and Mrs. E. G. Bumgardner on the Jefferson Davis highway.

Jack Allen Edens, who is with the department of commerce, Washington, D. C. has been spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. R. M. Edens, at her home, 1100 Henderson street.

Mrs. Joe Timmons had as her guests last week, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Parker and their daughter, Jane, of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Manley Timons and son, Manley, and Miss Bessie Youngblood of Troy.

C. D. Epting has returned to his home in Charleston after having spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Epting, of Little Mountain.

Mrs. S. A. Beaufort and son, Lewis, have returned to their home in Charleston after visiting the former’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Epting, of Little Mountain.

Mrs. W. E. Epworth has returned to her home in Columbia after visiting friends and relatives at Hartsville, Kellytown and Little Mountain.

B. E. Moody visited his sister, Mrs. D. C. Nickelson, and daughter, Ernestine, last weekend at Trenton.

Misses Katherine and Martha Thompkins of 2430 Preston street returned to Columbia Saturday from Johnston, where they were the guest of Miss Martha Wright for some time. Miss Wright returned home with them for a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. James A. Edens of Jacksonville, Fla., were the guests over the past weekend of Mr. Edens’ mother, Mrs. Jennie Edens, and his sister, Mrs. J. W. Tompkins, at their home on Preston street.

Miss Audrey McCleary of “Sunnyside Farm,” Blaney, has returned to Annapolis, MD., to spend the winter with her uncle and aunt, Lieutenant Commander G. Bannerman and Mrs. Bannerman, there.

Mrs. J. N. Brown has returned to Blaney after a delightful motor trip to Annapolis, Md., and Wisconsin, At Annapolis she visited her son-in-law and daughter, Lieutenant Commander G. Bannerman and Mrs. Bannerman. She was away several weeks.

Miss Virginia Cecil returned Monday to her home in Bristol, Va., after spending several weeks with Misses Ernestine and Firginia Derrick on Calhoun street.

Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Tucker, and son, Perry Tucker, and daughter Mary Vincent, have recently moved to Columbia from Sumter and are making their home at 917 Woodrow street. Mr. Tucker is Columbia branch manager of the Chamberlain Meatal Weather Strip company, with office at 1226 Washington street.

Miss Leila Dent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Dent, left Thursday to enter Coker college.

Misses Toye and Leola Sease have returned to Columbia after visiting friends and relatives in Ashville, N. C.
