Ridgewood Patients Served Ice Cream by Eastern Star

RIDGEWOOD CAMP. AUG. 13 – Ice cream was served to the patients in the Eastern Star cottage last week by Mrs. Ralph Crosson, Mrs. John Harrison, Mrs. J. M Ogilvie and Mrs. S. M. Scruggs, members of Columbia chapter, No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star.

Friday morning the WPA orchestra of Columbia played at 10:30 from the front porch of the administration building. The concert lasted half an hour.

Henry Madden of Columbia, a student of Johns Hopkins medical school in Baltimore, Md., visited the sanatorium Thursday with his brother, Dr. L. Emmett Madden, camp physician.

Mrs. B. E. DeLoach and Charles Hughes DeLoach of Hampton and Mrs. L. R. McDonald of Columbia visited friend Friday.

Mrs. Sue Porter had as guest last week Mrs. J. M. Porter, Miss Marian Sue Porter and Arnold Porter of Blaney and Mrs. W. D. Anderson of Columbia.

Grover Gregory of Buffalo spent the day Sunday with Mrs. Grover Gregory.

Mrs. Mary Spann Cullum’s company were Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Harrison of Cayce.

Mrs. M. P. McCalla had as guests Mrs. C. Alexander, Mac McCalla and John McCalla of Lowndesville and Miss Belle Nickels of Columbia.

Miss Marie Poyas was visited by Mrs. Fred V. Phipps of Columbia and Mrs. E. S. Jenkinson of Manning.

L. G. Jenkins and the Rev. W. C. Roliek of Columbia were the guest of Mrs. L. G. Jenkins.

Barney C. Langley had as company his mother, Mrs. Lila Langley of Columbia.

Guest of E. H. Rutland were: Mrs. E. H. Rutland of Blythewood, E. H. Rutland, Jr., and Mitchel King of the CCC camp at Winnsboro and E. D. Brannon and L. B. Brannon of Killian.

Miss Nanie Greene was visited by Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Kimball and Horace Kimball of the Monticello road.

Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shand of Columbia were recent visitors at the sanatorium.

Edward Miller, Sr., of Blythewood was the guest of his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Miller

Mrs. J. A. Judy’s company were: Miss Aleene Judy, Johnnie Albert Judy, Elmer Lee Judy, Edward Judy and J. A. Judy of Ridgeway.

George English of Columbia was a business visitor at the camp Monday.

Talks were given in the cottages Tuesday night by L. C. Shaw, R. E. L. Freeman, Mr. Lindsay, Mr. Wells and Mr. Flemister of the Business Men’s Evangelistic club of Columbia.

Miss Elizabeth Hardy was visited last week by Mrs. A. Hardy, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. A. Hardy, Jr., Miss Sarah Hardy and Archie Hardy, 3rd, of Columbia and Mrs. J. R. Moseley of Charleston.
