Accident Victim Dies At Columbia Hospital

Mrs. Dora Evelyn Clamp Faust, 25, died yesterday afternoon at the Columbia hospital of injuries received in an automobile collision Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Faust, wife of D. L. Faust, 1702 Blanding street, was injured when the taxicab in which she was riding collided with another taxicab at the corner of Pickens and Senate streets.

Driver of the taxi in which Mrs. Faust was riding was W. S. Johnson, 42, of 1321 Pickens street. He received a broken collar bone and side injuries. He was taken to the Columbia hospital.

W. J. Baker, 22, 1S Moore avenue, driver of the other vehicle, was not injured. He was carrying no passengers at the time of the accident.

A third car involved in the accident had stopped when the collision occurred. It was driven by T. M. Painter, 1014 Taylor street. A parked car which was also struck was owned by A. S. Young, 1530 Senate street.

An inquest will be held, Coroner Sargeant said, but no time has been set.

Surviving Mrs. Faust are her husband; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Clamp; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Mims; and one brother, Walter Earl Clamp, all of Columbia. Mrs. Faust was a lifelong resident of Columbia, and a member of the Broadway Baptist church.

Robert D. Dennis, 76, a life long resident of Columbia and West Columbia, died at 4 o’clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Coleman, near Blaney. Mr. Dennis had been ill for several weeks.

He was a member of the Jackson Creek Baptist church.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine Hutchinson Dennis, of Columbia; also two daughters, Mrs. Maud Dew, Columbia, and Mrs. Coleman; two sons, S. M. Dennis, West Columbia and Henry C. Dennis, Columbia. Survivors also include two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Strickland of College Place and Mrs. Mary Kelly of Lugoff, and one brother John Dennis of Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Sunday morning from the Jackson Creek Baptist church. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
