Camden, March 8.- (Special)- Samuel R. Kirkland of Westville died at a Columbia hospital today
He is survived by two sisters Mrs Mary R. Clyburn and Mrs. Annie Mosier of Westville: two brothers, W. L. Kirkland, Columbia, and J. C. Kirkland, Westville.
Funeral services will be conducted from Bethany Baptist church some time Sunday afternoon.

Samuel Kirkland Buried
Camden, March 11 – Samuel R. Kirkland, prominent resident of Westville died at a Columbia hospital Saturday after an extended illness. He was 58 years of age.
Funeral services for were held Mr. Kirkland were held at 3:30 Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Mr. Davis. Burial was in Bethany Baptist church, Westville.
Mr. Kirkland, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearle Hancock Kirkland, three sons, Heyward of Columbia, Paul of Kershaw and Samuel, Jr. of Westville; three daughters, Mrs. Otis Young of Camden, Miss Mary Kirkland, nurse at Fort Jackson and Miss Eva Kirkland of Westville. Two brothers and two sisters also survive: William L. Kirkland of Columbia and Croskey Kirkland of Westville, Mrs. Mary Clyburn and Mrs. John Mosier, both of Westville.
Mr. Kirkland a life long and prominent citizen of Westville was a man of true Christian faith and a good father. He leaves a host of friends all over Kershaw county to mourn his passing. The attendance and the many floral tributes attested to the esteem in which Mr. Kirkland was held throughout the community.
