T. L. Funderburk Buried

Varnville, March 16 – (Special) – Funeral services for T. L. Funderburk, 47, who was fatally injured while at work at the Santee Hardwood Lumber company at St. Stephens, were conducted at the Varnville Baptist church, Thursday afternoon, with burial following in the Varnville cemetery.

Mr. Funderburk was an active member of the St. Stephens Baptist church for eight years, having served there as deacon for seven years. Prior to this time, he was deacon of the Varnville Baptist church for seven years.

Mr. Funderburk leaves a host of friends who will regret to learn of his sudden passing. He was a fine example of a loyal Christian and lived the principles of the Golden Rule.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Nell Carter Funderburk, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Bernard Funderburk of Pageland, and the following brothers and sister: Herman Funderburk, Hurley Funderburk and Cova Funderburk of Pageland; Cecil Funderburk and Mrs. C. W. Burns of Lancaster; Leston Funderburk of Charlotte, N. C.; Leon Funderburk of Roxboro, N. C. and Miss Madge Funderburk of Blaney.

The services wer incharge of the Rev. J. F. Funderburk, brother-in-law of the deceased, assisted by the Rev. Wade Funderburk of North Carolina, the Rev. L. H. Gardner, pastor of the Varnville Baptist church, the Rev. W. J. Swindell, pastor of the Varnville Christian church, the Rev. M. V. Carson of Blaney, and the Rev. J. E. West of Moncks Corner.
