Camden Plans Trade Cage Tournament

CAMDEN, Jan. 10 – The Camden Kiwanis club has announced the personnel of the sponsoring or host group to prepare details incident to the Camden trade area basketball tournament which starts Wednesday, January 28.

There will be boys and girls teams from eight high schools in the trade area. The sponsors for the respective schools are announced by the Kiwanis club are as follows: Bethune high, Charles J. Shannon, IV; Antioch High, J. D. Zemp; Baron DeKalb high, Eugene Pearce; Blaney high, Howard Speaks; Camden high, Cyril Busbee; Midway high, J. H. McLeod; Central high, Usher Myers, and Mt. Pisgah high, C. H., Schlosburg.

The games will be played in the Camden high school gymnasium with afternoon games scheduled for 4 and 5 o’clock and night games, 7:30 and 8:30 o’clock.

On opening day, the first game in the afternoon will be between the girls’ team of Mount Pisgah and Central schools. At 5 o’clock the boys’ teams from Midway in Central schools will play. That night at 7:30 o’clock the girls’ teams of Camden in Blaney will have the floor and at 8:30 o’clock the boys’ team from Baron DeKalb and Antioch will play.

On Thursday afternoon, January 29, at 4 o’clock the Bethune and Midway girls’ teams will play at 5 o’clock and the boys’ teams from Blaney and Mt. Pisgah will play. Thursday evening the girls’ from Antioch in Baron Dekalb are scheduled and at 8 o’clock and the boys’ team from Camden and Bethune will go into action.

On Friday afternoon, January 30, the winner of the Bethune-Midway girls’ game will meet the winner of the Antioch-Baron DeKalb game at 4 o’clock. At 5 o’clock the winner of the Midway-Central boys game will meet the winner of Blaney-Mt. Pisagh game on Friday night at 7:30 the winner of the Mt. Pisgah-Central girls’ game will meet the winner of the Camden-Blaney game and at 8:30 o’clock the winner of the Baron DeKalb- Antioch boys’ game will beet the winner of the Camden – Bethune game.

On Saturday night the finals for the girls teams will be played at 7:30 o’clock.
