FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WILLIAM LYLES FERGUSON

WINNSBORO, July 22, – Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m., today at Smyrna Church near Centerville for William Lyles Ferguson, 33, who was drowned Wednesday afternoon on the lake near the Guignard place. When a boat in which he and three other men were fishing capsized. The Rev. Frank Moore of Gordon Memorial Methodist Church was to conduct the service and interment was to be in the churchyard.

Mr. Ferguson a native of Fairfield county, has been connected with F. M. Roddey for 15 years as overseer and machinist on his farms near Winnsboro. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alma Wilson Ferguson, and four children; William Marion, Carolyn, Edward, and Annette; his father, J. P. Ferguson and four brothers, Alfred and Frank Ferguson of Winnsboro, James Marion Ferguson of Blythewood, and Julius Ferguson with the armed forces in camp in Alabama; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Oleen Ferguson and Mrs. H. L. Davis of Portsmouth, Va.; Mrs. R. A. Helms of Chester and Miss Thelma Ferguson of Winnsboro.

W. L. Ferguson Rites Held at Fairfield Today

Winnsboro, July 22 (Special) – Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock Friday afternoon at Smyrna church near Centerville, for William Lyles Ferguson, 33, who was drowned Wednesday afternoon on the late near the Guignard place, when a boat in which he and three other men were fishing capsized.
