Thomas “Tommy” Wayne Thornton, three-year-old Winnsboro child, was injured fatally yesterday, August, 24, 1943 at Blaney when he got out of an automobile and started across the road and was hit by a second car.
The child was with his grandfather at the time for a visit with relatives at Blaney. The child’s mother has been ill in the Columbia hospital.
Rural Policeman J. D. Watson of Kershaw county said the automobile which struck the child was driven allegedly by John Rabon, Jr., son of John Rabon, railroad section foreman. He said an inquest would he held tonight.
The child died en route to the Baptist hospital here. The body was taken to the McCormick Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete last night.
