An appreciative audience enjoyed the piano recital given here last night at the studio of Miss Dura Holt, 2915 Monroe street, in which she presented Sylvia Jacobs, 10, and her brother, Hampton, 8, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Horace T. Jacobs (Clara Mae Jacobs) of Pontiac and Columbia.
The recital was assisted by Bess Stuckey; Jean Plyler, Marion Whaley, Preston Whaley, Jacky McDowel and Mrs. H. T. Jacobs.
Ushers were Emma Jenkins and Hutchie Carnes and those serving included Mary Lou Alban, Maxine Geiger and Martha Jo Atwater.
A wide variety of selections were heard from the works of Long, Anthony, Davies, Spaulding, Bermont, Thompson, Nevin Felton, Bilbro, Erb, Baines, Eckstein and others.
One of the best numbers played by Sylvia was the first movement from Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.”
Several piano duet, trio and quartet numbers featured the program.
At the conclusion of the recital, primary certificates were presented the brother and sister. The various participants in the program and Miss Holt received compliments on the fine performance.
