Horace T. Jacobs of Pontiac and Columbia, businessman and farmer, has announced his candidacy for the house of representatives from Richland county.
Mr. Jacobs, a native of Richland county, has been engaged in business in Columbia for 27 years, and at the same time has continued his farming interests.
He was a candidate for the house two years ago, having lost by a small margin of votes in the second primary.
Announcing his candidacy today, Mr. Jacobs said;
“My only object in offering for one of the seven seats in the house of representatives is to serve my fellow citizens. I feel that with the experience I have gained on the farm and in business, I am qualified to represent the citizens of Richland county.
“I also feel I understand the problems of Richland county because I am a native of this county. I have observed the progress of my country and understand the needs of the county. As a taxpayer, I have been greatly interested in Richland county’s affairs and will devote my time to a study of all conditions therein.
“There are many matters I will discuss with the citizens during the campaign, and I invite the citizens of the county to discuss with me matters in which they are deeply concerned.”
Mr. Jacobs is married to the former Miss Clara Mae Kizer of Holly Hill. They have three children. He operates the tailoring shop at 1437 Sumter street which bears his name.
