Demonstration of Tree Planter Here Dec. 4; State Schedule Given

Demonstration of state forestry commission’s new mechanical tree planter will be made in Richland county at Columbia and Blaney December 4, Albin A. Lehocky of Camden, district forester, announced yesterday.

The exhibitions in this county will be held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning, December 4, on land owned by G. P. Moore at Blaney, where 5,000 seedlings will be planted, and at Bella Vista garden, 152 Saluda avenue at 2:30 in the afternoon, where 3,000 trees will be planted. The mechanical planter will plant 1,000 trees per hour under favorable conditions, it was announced.

Eight other demonstrations will be made in the state during December at the following locations and dates:

J. L. Anderson farms, Cheraw, 10 a.m., December 1; J. L. Horton, Route 1, Jefferson, 2 p.m., December 1, R. M. Potts, Route 2, Fort Mill, 10 a.m., December 2; L. P. Robinson, Route 2, Heath Springs, 2 p.m., December 2; Ashwood high school, Bishopville, 10 a.m., December 3; J. A. Raffield, Sumter, 2 p.m., December 3; S. C. Truesdale, Westville, 10 a.m., December 5; and Mrs. W. H. Mackey, Camden, 2:30 p.m., December 5.
