83 Cases on Docket; Judge Johnson to Preside; Grand Jury Named

Criminal court will begin Monday in Richland county court house when the two-weeks January term gets under way with Judge J. Henry Johnson of Allendale on the bench.

As of yesterday there were 83 cases on the docket, including three homicides, an oft-delayed criminal assault case and an abortion charge. Thirty-eight of the cases were carried over from the December term.

Solicitor T. Pou Taylor will confer with law enforcement officers in his office today and tomorrow with regard to cases coming up for trail.

New grand jury, drawn a few days ago, will begin its duties. Serving on the grand jury will be six holdover members from last year’s grand jury: R. Roy Pearce, Charles Lee Brooks, M. Olin Kinsler, William H. Favor, J. Harmon Derrick and J. I. May.
