W. W. Whiteside, superintendent-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist hospital said yesterday that the hospital had accepted 16 students nurses in the January class and that for the first time in the history of the hospital the student body exceeds the 100 mark. The students are:
Dorothy Lourise Willcox, Florence; Dorothy Jean Henderson, Hartsville; Nellie Wilma Ourts, Johnston: Billie Spann Parsons, Simpsonville; Hattie Louise Bragg, Varnville; Harriet Elizabeth Mizell, Ridgeville; Luanna Oxendine, Martin, N. C.; Carrie Ellen Costner, Modoc; Lottie Jean Howle, Society Hill; Delores Unitah Cowden, Nava Base: Evelyn Elizabeth Purvis, North Charleston; Emma Gena Tucker, Blaney; Mary Franklin, West Columbia; Agnes Viola Shealy, Lykesland; Mary Nelle Hughes, Hemingway, and Charleer Goodnough, Simpsonville.
Mr. Whiteside also said that o the 13 Baptist hospital nurse standing the state board examination recently, all made passing grades and are now registered nurses. They are:
Beatrice Stewart Brown, Columbia: Helen Eloise Chavis, Columbia Maguerite Church, Hemingway Mary Ellen Varner Sox, Union Bernice Brown, Columbia; Beatrice Thompson, Honea Path; Winnie Mae Prevatte, Columbia; Mary Sue Davis Gates, Columbia; Louise Ridings, Goldville: Edna Rice White West Columbia; Edna Hill Smith Charleston; Helen Hill, Charleston and Evelyn Waldrop, Columbia.
