Midway, Feb. 9 – The Midway high girls’ chances of winning the upper Fifth district basketball tournament received a setback when it was announced that Peggy Hall was ill and would not be able to play in remaining games at the Baron DeKalb high school gym.

The Midway girls have won both games in the district tournament. They defeated Antioch on Monday, 38-33, and on Tuesday beat Baron DeKalb 46-31.

Coach Stanton’s Midway boys have won both games, defeating Antioch 40-23, and Blaney 40-25.

In games Tuesday, Mt. Pisgah beat Bethune 50-28 in the girls’ game, while Bethune’s boys took at 34-18 win from Mt. Pisgah.

The Blaney girls defeated baron DeKalb 44-39 in a close game Monday, and Baron DeKalb boys won from Blaney 34 to 25.

Midway drew a bye for Wednesday night but plays again Thursday.
