The executive board of the Fairfield Baptist Association at its January meeting yesterday at the First Baptist Church elected E. Dargan McKinght, superintendent of the Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church, as associational Sunday school superintendent for the Fairfield association.
He succeeds the Reverend Delbert Nowell, who resigned to accept work in another state.
There are 50 Baptist churches in the Fairfield association with approximately 18,000 Sunday school members. Work of the Sunday school is a vital part of the Baptist activities.
A supper meeting of association of leaders and department superintendents has been called for 6 o’clock Monday evening, January 22, at Caldwell’s cafeteria. Members of this group, besides Mr. McKnight include; Fred T. Harrell, superintendent of teacher training; Dr. Ernest R. Campbell, superintendent of evangelism; the Rev. Robert O. Barker, superintendent of enlargement; and Miss Pauline E. Coleman, secretary.
Departmental leaders are Mrs. O. C. Tomlinson, nursery; Mrs. N. G. Brown, beginners; Miss Elizabeth Nuchols, primary; Mrs C. S. Hodge, juniors; Mrs. R. O. Barker, intermediates; C. S. Hodge, young people; the Rev. O. J. Owens of Winnsboro, extension; and Miss Sara Graddock, Vacation Bible school.
District leaders include: Miss Jessie Randolph, the Rev. William D. Connor, the Rev. James Jennings, the Rev. George Walker, all of Columbia; the Rev. Howard Price of West Columbia; Mrs. J. I. McGill of Winnsboro; Mrs J. L. Cotton of Eastover; the Rev. Mark Osborne, Ridgeway, and the Rev. George Partridge of Blaney.
