M. K. Abbott of Columbia Is Laid to Rest
Milton K. (Dock) Abbott, 83, of 1450 Kingston road died at the Columbia hospital at 12:20 Saturday afternoon, January 27, 1951, following an illness of two months.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, January 28, 1951 from Jackson Creek Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. M. T. Cockman, and the Rev. J. W. Burch. Interment was in the church yard.
Mr. Abbott had lived in Columbia his entire life and had engaged in farm work until his illness. He was member of Jackson Creek Baptist church.
He is survived by three sons, William Abbott and Harry Abbott, both of Columbia, and Barney Abbott of Selma, North Carolina; one half-sister Mrs. J. C. Sharpe of Columbia and ten grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: R. T. Cook, H. R. Geiger, C. C. Chavis, A. B. Nunnamaker, N. T. Cook and L. P. Huff.
Honorary pallbearers were: Chester Dickert, J. Hayward Lee, J. W. Lee, Arthur Lovett, Wade Moak, Dr. H. L. Hennies, E. W. Rodgers, Josh Garlic, D. D. Campbell and Doctor Long.
