Hagood Rites Scheduled for Mrs. Emanuel
SUMTER, Aug. 13 – Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today for Mrs. Harriett Saunders Emanuel, 57, of Rembert.
The services will be conducted at the Church of Ascension (Episcopal), at Hagood, by the Rev. Claude Hobart. Interment will follow in the family plot at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Emanuel, the wife of Charles M. Emanuel, Sr., died at 3:20 in the morning at the Columbia Hospital yesterday, following an illness of several weeks.
She was a native of Stateburg, a daughter of the late George M. Saunders and Mrs. Louise Wertenbaker Saunders. She attended a private school at Stateburg and Columbia college.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gordon H. Strite of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Charles M. Emanuel, Jr., of Blaney and Francis C. Emanuel of Sumter; one sister, Mrs. Frances Saunders of Stateburg; two brothers, Bruce C. Saunders and George M Saunders of Stateburg, and two grandchildren, Edna Winfield Strite and Camella Emanuel.
Mrs. Emanuel Of Rembert Dies; Rites Today
SUMTER, Aug. 12 – (Special) – Mrs. Harriett Saunders Emanuel, the wife of Charles M. Emanuel, Sr., died at 3:20 this morning at the Columbia hospital after an illness of several weeks.
The funeral party will leave the Shelley-Brunson Funeral home at 3:30 Monday afternoon, for the Church of Ascension at Hagood, where funeral services will be conducted at 4 o’clock by the Rev. Claude Hobart. Interment will follow in the family square in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Emanuel was born at Statesburg on March 4, 1894, a daughter of the later George M. Saunders and Louisa Wertenbaker Saunders. She attended a private school at Stateburg and the Columbia College for Women in Columbia.
