Teachers Participate in First Aide Training

Teachers in the picture above have taken first aide training under the instruction of Robert Forbes, special field worker with the National Red Cross. The course was aimed at training teachers as instructors so that the students in high school and colleges may be prepared in time of emergency or disaster to protect their lives and others. The class was sponsored by the state department of education as a part of the South Carolina civil defense program. Taking the course are, front row, left to right, Mrs. Edward J. Will, University high school; Mrs. George H. Tompkins, Blaney schools; Mrs. Eva O. Bethea, Dentsville school; Miss Nettie Shealy, McColl schools, and Robert Forbes, instructor.
