Thomas-Grainger Wedding Plans

Mary LeNeve Thomas, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Thomas and niece of Miss Jennie Marie Thomas of Columbia, and Jennings Bryan Grainger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Hoyt Grainger, Sr., of Florence, have completed plans for their wedding, which takes place at 8 p.m. February 21 in the First Baptist Church. Joe Burnette, education director of the church, will officiate at the ceremony. The wedding music will be furnished by M. Berry Seay, organist; Mrs. Lloyd Hendricks, violinist, and Mrs. S. N. Woodard, vocalist.

Mary LeNeve, who is to be given in marriage by her grandfather, C. R. Costner of Columbia, will have for her maid of honor, her cousin, Mary Harvey of Washington, D. C., and for her matron of honor, Mrs. James H. Lesesne (Alma Frances Grainger) of Spartanburg, sister of the bridegroom-elect. Bridesmaid are Betty Harvey and Romesa Jaco, cousin of the bride-elect, Eliza Herndon, Joan Gayden, Mrs. W. C. Reames (Shirely Sills) and Mrs. W. A. Smyrl (Princa McManus). Katharine Foran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Foran of Columbia, and Nikki Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben K. Walker of Columbia, will be flower girls. The ring bearer is Johnny Jacobs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace T. Jacobs (Clara Mae Jacobs) of Columbia.

Jennings’ best man will be Marshall I. Prince. The ushers are Charles Thomas of Columbia and Knoxville, Tenn., brother of the bride-elect; Calvin R. Grainger of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mr. Hoyt Grainger, Jr., of Florence, brothers of the bridegroom-elect; Carroll Grainger of Fair Bluff, N. C., cousin of the bridegroom-elect; Robert Costner of Charleston, cousin of the bride-elect; W. C. Reames and W. A. Smyrl, both of Columbia, and Ralph Johnson of Aiken and Columbia. Frank Thomas, brother of the bride-elect, and Woody Sanford will light the candles.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the Baptist Student Center, 1618 Pendleton Street.
