S. H. Ross, 82, Of Blaney Dies
Sam Henry Ross, 82, of Blaney a retired merchant and farmer died at his home last night, September 28, 1957, after an illness of ten weeks.
Mr. Ross was a son of the late John Thomas Ross and Mary Motley Ross. He was born at Blaney and spent his entire life in the community. A lifelong member of Union Baptist Church, he served on the board of deacons for about 40 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Glenn Motley and Mrs. Thelma Knapp, both of Blaney, and Mrs. D. C. Dixon of Lugoff; four sons, J. Paul Ross, Jack G. Ross and Woodrow Ross, all of Blaney, and Dr. S. H. Ross of Anderson; 33 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his family. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
The body is at the Paschal Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for were held this morning, September 30, 1957 at 11 o’clock in Union Baptist Church at Blaney, conducted by the Rev. George Partridge.
Six grandsons served as active pallbearers. Interment was in the church cemetery.
