Mrs. L. W. Mattox, Blythewood, Dies
Mrs. Levi (Mattie Cooper) Mattox, 83, widow of L. W. Mattox, died at 1 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of her daughter after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Mattox was a member of Zion Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Branham; two sons, Edward Mattox and L. J. Matox, all of Ridgeway; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Alberta Branham of Ridgeway and Mrs. Fanny Bradley of Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Yandle and Mrs. Lizzie Allen, both of Columbia; one brother, Claude P. Cooper of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock this afternoon from Sawneys Creek Church, conducted by the Rev. Donald A. Foster, pastor, and assisted by the Rev. John Atkerson. Burial will be at Smyrna Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be J. T. Allen, J. P. Cooper, Ezell Cooper, Walter Yandle, Jack Yandle, and G. B. Yandle.
Honorary pallbearers will be P. R. Scott, Walter Roof, Dr. Cochran, Grover Wilson, H. S. Allen, Clyde Murphy and Ellis Perry.
The body will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daisy Branham, after 9 o’clock this morning.
