Blaney Man May Have Wounded Chicken Thief

A Blaney man, R. A. Herlong, told the Richland sheriff’s office Wednesday night that he had fired upon a chicken theif and possibly wounded him.

Herlong, hearing a noise in the fowl house, went into the yard armed with a shotgun just in time to see a man fleeing. He fired at him and may possibly have wounded him, he said.

Sheriff deputies investigating the scene discovered that 10 chickens had been spirited away.
