Funeral Services for William D. Rabon, Sr., 78, of 930 Vernon Court, will be conducted Saturday at 4 p.m. from Dunbar Funeral Home by the Rev. Guy C. Hinson, the Rev. George F. Turbeville and the Rev. John C. Anderson. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He died Thursday in a local hospital.
Mr. Rabon was born in Killian, a son of the late Daniel Rabon and Jessie Fawn Rabon. He had lived in Columbia most of his life and was employed by the Southern Railroad for 48 years, retiring in 1948.
He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and was a former member and deacon of Jackson Creek Baptist Church. He was a a charter member of Bayview Baptist Church, and also a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Eula Hawkins Rabon; four daughter, Mrs. J. B. Brady, Mrs. Ruby Carter, Mrs. Mary Trout and Miss Dorothy Rabon of Columbia; six sons, W. D. Rabon of Abbeville, L. J. Rabon of Spartanburg, E. B. Rabon, S. M. Rabon, C. G. Rabon and Marvin J. Rabon of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. J. O. Summers of Dentsville; a brother J. H. Rabon of Blaney; 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Norman Frost, W. C. Hale, Edward Hinson, T. M. Ellisor, Leroy H. Davis and W. H. Kelly.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and Joseph Keels, Dr. Joe Tobin, Dr. E. W.
