ELGIN – Miss Muriel Bowen Branham became the bride of Luther McArthur Drawd at 7:30 p.m. November 21 in the Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. N. D. Sellers, pastor of the church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Alvin Branham (Beatrice Jean Bowen Branham-Shirley) of Elgin. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. William Drawdy and the late Mr. Drawdy of Eastover.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of peau de soie featuring a fitted bodice of chantilly lace over satin designed with a high neckline, long sleeves of lace ending in points over the hands, and fastened down the back with self buttons. The floor-length skirt fell from a cummerbund and ended in a cathedral train. Her veil of bridal illusions was attached to a queen’s crown of seeded pearls and crystals. She carried a white satin Bible topped with a white orchid and streamers.
Usher-groomsmen were Alva Gene Branham of Virginia, Larry Branham of Dentsville, brothers of the bride, and Francis Livingston of Eastover, nephew of the bridegroom, and Eugene Brisby of Cayce, cousin of the bride.
Curtis Drawdy of Elgin, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man.
The bride had for her maid-of-honor, Miss Beverly Bowen of Columbia, cousin of the bride. Miss Bowen wore a formal gown of strawberry red taffeta and velvet.
Misses Glenda Bowen of Columbia and Cathy Sneed of Eastover, bridesmaid, wore gown of identical to that of the maid-of-honor. Miss Machelle Branham, sister of the bride, flower girl, was in a red taffeta dress.
The couple will reside at their home, 1102 Faraway Drive, Columbia after November 24.
