Steam Generator
CANADYS – Ground was broken Friday for construction of a new $25.5 million 200,000 kilowatt steam generating unit here. A group of South Carolina Gas and Electric Co. officials-builders of the unit-state and county officials attended the ceremony and a luncheon.

Beauty Contest
FAIRFAX-The Miss Fairfax beauty contest will be held here 7:30 p.m. April 2 in the Fairfax Elementary School auditorium.

Religious Week
BAMBERG – Religious Emphasis Week at the Bamberg High School has been scheduled for March 29 – April 2. The program is sponsored by the Beta Club here.

Rabies Clinic
TIMMONSVILLE-A rabies clinic will be held at the Timmonsville Health Center April 3 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. The clinic is sponsored by the Florence County Health Department in co-operation with the South Carolina State Board of Health. Charge will be $1 per dog.

March of Dimes
CHESTER-March of Dimes workers collected $615.93 in the current drive at Great Falls.

Variety Show
ELGIN-The senior class of Blaney School here is sponsoring a variety show featuring Snuffy Jenkins and the “Hired Hands” Friday April 2. The proceeds of the show will be used to help finance the senior class trip to the New York World’s Fair.

Booster Club
LAMAR-The Lamar High School Booster Club will honor the athletes of the school with a supper at the Carol King Gymnasium Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m.

Homemaker of Year
BEAUFORT – Sandra Rausch, daughter of Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station Capt. and Mrs. Robert C. Rausch, has been named the Beaufort High School 1965 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow.

Short Course
CLEMSO-A short course on concrete shell structures will be held at Clemson University March 26-27, sponsored jointly by the Department of Civil engineering and the Portland Cement Association.
