Two jury trails are scheduled to get under way Tuesday in U. S. District Court here.
District Attorney Terrell Glenn indicated this morning that the first case to be called Tuesday will be that of Cecil C. Small and Charles Ray Johnson who have entered the pleas of innocent to charges of theft of goods moving in interstate commerce.
The second jury trial scheduled for Tuesday will be that of Earl J. Jacobs charged with violation of liquor laws.
Guilty pleas were taken today from William Odell Barfield, Victor Thornwell Jeffers and Robert House Jr., charged with liquor law violation.
There were four separate offenses charged to Barfield and Jeffers. House was charged with only one offense.
Prosecuting officers told the court that they found the three men March 28th in an auto in the Eastover section. The car was about 20 or 30 feet from a still and the trunk of the vehicle contained a 120 gallons of liquor, officers sai.
They were arrested, charged, and posted bond.
Four days later Barfield and Jeffers were again arrested at a still in a different location in the Eastover section.
House who has no previous records of such violations, was given a one-year suspended sentence and will be on probation for four years.
Barfield will serve six months on one count . On two other counts he had 12 months and 18 months sentences suspended and four years probation. These will run concurrently.
Jeffers received a 15 months sentence on the first count. On three other counts one-year sentences were suspended and he will be on probation for four years.
Judge Charles E. Simmons Jr., is presiding over the one-week term of federal criminal court.
