North Trenholm Baptist Church, Columbia, was the setting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday of the wedding of Deloria Corrie Monroe and John Thomas Burriss Jr.
The Rev. Horace F. Chapman Jr. officiated. Hayes Burkett, cousin of the bridegroom, and Ray Blanks were acolytes.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Willard Monroe (Lois Ross Monroe) of Columbia, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Burriss Sr. of Hopkins.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of peau de sole trimmed in Alencon lace. Her veil of illusion was held in place by a crown of seed pearls and crystals. She carried a mother of pearl testament, from Jerusalem, topped with roses.
Miss Barbara Monroe of Columbia, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a floor – length dress of blue crepe.
Bridal attendants were Miss Kaye Ross, cousin of the bride; Miss Harriet Burriss, sister of the bridegroom; Miss Linda Hardin and Mrs. Ann Smith, all of Columbia.
Junior bridesmaids were Miss Wanda Burriss of Anderson, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Marilyn Lee of North Charleston.
Miss Caroline Jones of Columbia was flower girl. Pat Ragin of Columbia served as ring bearer.
John Thomas Burriss Sr., father of the bridegroom, served as best man.
Usher – groomsmen were Billy Goodwin, Wayne Goff, Johnny Dennis, cousins of the Bride; Billy Powell, Norman Campbell, all of Columbia, and Billy Kirby of Hopkins.
The couple will make their home in Clinton.
