Stratman Set For Blaney Drag Meet

NHRA record-holder Bob Stratman heads a field of rail dragsters slated for competition Saturday night at Blaney Drag Strip.

Stratman, a Miami veteran, will appear in the twin-engine trailster which hold the national A-dragster standard of 181.80 miles per hour (8.26 ET).

Stratman’s machine, which is powered by two fuel-injected 368 Chevrolet engines, will be pitted against the dragsters of Charlotte’s Tommy Shaw and Bob Winston, and Myrtle Beach’s Lyle Lathe.

In addition to the dragesters, the popular Super Stocks and all other NHRA classes will compete for a share of the $2,300 purse.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and eliminations get underway at 8.
