Columbia clubwomen have recently elected new officers for the 1970-71 year.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Columbia recently installed Mrs. Alva Woodham as president and Mrs. Walter Hunter Jr. as first vice-president. Other officers include Mrs. Dan Ramage, second vice-president; Mrs. William Hays, third vice-president; Mrs. Charles Feagin, recording secretary; and Mrs. J. R. Sanders Jr., corresponding secretary.

Installing officer was Mrs. Ralph Taylor, junior director of the S. C. Federation of Woman’s Clubs.

USC CHAPETER, DAR

Mrs. Arnold D. Blair is the new regent of the University of South Carolina Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, succeding Mrs. Wade T. Batson. Mrs. James R. Anderson is the new vice regent.

Other officers are Mrs. Horace T. Jacobs, chaplain; Miss Eloise Alverson, recording secretary; Mrs. Frank M. Schirmer, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Maurice G. Powell, treasurer; Mrs. J. H. Smith, librarian; Mrs. B. A. Deatwyler, genealogist, Mrs. Orville Robinson was appointed parliamentarian by the new regent.

PI BETA PHI

Mrs. E. H. Brown Jr. was installed as the new president of the alumnae of Pi Beta Phi, which recently celebrated their 103rd anniversary of the fraternity’s founding.

Other new officers are Mrs. Barbara Reese, vice-presidents; Mrs. James M. Assey, secretary and Mrs. R. H. Rockafellow, treasurer.

Highlight of the Founder’s Day luncheon was the first presentation of the Mary Lees Graham McGeary Award for distinguished alumnae service. Given in her honor, the first recipient was Mrs. Mary Lees (Mrs. J. A.) McGeary. The award was created to rcognize an outstanding alumna who has rendered unselfish service from the time she was a member of the first pledge class in 1931.

Two members of the order of the Golden Arrow (50 year members) were also honored, Mrs. Wyatt Aiken and Mrs. Oscar B. Wilson, both of Columbia.
