ELGIN – James Oscar Bowers, 58, died Saturday, October 5, 1974 in Kershaw County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Allendale County, a son of the late Ira Bowers and Jannie Brant Bowers. He was a heavy equipment operator and a mason.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie Bunch Bowers of the home; two sons, Jimmy Bowers and Jacky Bowers of the home; three sisters, Mrs. R. L. Chatham of Cayce, Mrs. L. D. Allen of Sycamore and Mrs. Hugh Craddock of Charleston Heights; and a brother, W. R. Bowers of Rincon, Ga.

Services will be 4 p.m. today, October 7, 1974 in Blaney Baptist Church.

Kornegay Funeral Home is in charge.
